I think they were instant approved directories when I tried personally. However, I will replace these sites with any other good resources if they are not instant approval.

Thanks Jack. One thing I forgot to mention about Article Alley is to make sure your Author Bio is in the same text field as the body of your article, since they don't have a specific field for it. By the way this is a great list. Many of these I've never heard of before and they are perfect for the type of fortress style marketing project I'm working on now, basically trying to build a wall of PR around an authority site. I look forward to testing these out.

@Debby.. Article Snatch is a great article directory that usually caches pages within a week, but unfortunately they don't auto approve. But I would still use them none the less, they are great for building backlinks and they have sister sites in different languages which is cool.

For shopping related articles there is also http://www.deepshoppingdirectory.com/articles/add. - it isn't instant approval but you can submit as a guest if you want without signing in, making it quick and easy to use. There is also no fixed limit on links that you can include, although you have to be reasonable about it or your article won't get published.

Here's an article directory list, while not all directories are instant approval, they are very helpful (they actually approve articles):
just been through the whole list and links from comments - man hard work - not all sites work, unfortunately!
11 have insufficient permissions, 5 wouldnt load and 1 just get a blank screen. Will monitor them for couple of weeks - I hope they fix their bugs etc.

you did great job by providing such a bi list of directories...but as per my experience if you choose any 3-5 High PR article directories...and write unique post on each..then you will get more quality backlinks..many people are there who gets PR 5 by building many thousands of useless backlinks..but there are also fewer people who gets PR 5 by building just hundreds of quality links...

An alternative is to just post to 3 or 4 of the top article directories in your list and this would cover most real web sites looking for content.
Chasing quantity is an exercise in frustration. You would be much better off working all day long to secure just one link from a site that is already ranking high, on a page that is ranking high.
People submit article after article. It's a waste of time usually.
A better approach is to find a really high ranking site then write one really good article on that topic with a link back to an internal page you want to rank by establishing a relationship with that site owner. And yes sometimes you have to buy that placement.
Article marketing does work... but only if you have really good content and focus on the sites that already have high ranking of their internal pages. 1 really good link is worth 1,000+ crap links.

I was wondering how many backlinks is a good amount for a days work. 50? 75? I am just trying to see what others do so if I'm not getting enough in a day, I an increase it.
I would say I post about 150-250 links put out on the net per day. Is this good?

I've heard a lot about article marketing and I want to give it a try. This hub gave me information that will help me do it properly when I finally take the time to do it.
Just remember that when you submit your articles to the article directories you are expressly giving consent for other websites on the Internet to copy and use your articles without charge. Also, the more sites that copy your articles the further diluted the value of each article becomes until before long you get no value at all for giving your work away!
HubPages don't work like that. You maintain exclusive ownership and the articles are only published once giving you the maximum benefit from the work.

PR Backlinks Generator worked great, I got up to around 1200 PR3-PR10 backlinks for my site, and then all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore.
Now when I open it, I put in my keywords that I want to search for, and instead of pulling up the sites with their PR, it just displays the keywords over & over..
The keyword I tried searching for was "Omegle" - Instead of any sites & their PR I just got this:
